Skateboarding: The Favorite American Sport

It is believed that the first skateboard was probably manufactured somewhere around 1940′s when surfers in California wanted something to surf when the waves were flat. Eventually the whole idea about a flat board became so popular that different ideas like wooden boxes or boards with roller skate wheels attached to the bottom followed. With time several changes were made to improve the quality and performance of the product. These changes allowed skateboarders to have a better control on the handling of the skateboard and new tricks were invented. Today, Skateboarding is one of the favourite American sports that is enjoyed by kids and adults, both.

Formally stating skateboarding is the act of riding and performing tricks using a skateboard. A person using skateboards is generally referred to as a skateboarder or a skater. It can be defined as a recreational activity, an artform, a job, or a method of transportation. Though relatively a modern form of sport it is extremely popular among boys under the age of 18. However, a completely different outlook is seen towards the game when it is played at a professional level. Skaters like to invent new tricks and make new records by showing their creativity in the sport, thus making it an extremely challenging sport.
